Customer Repair Sewing Machinist - Part time

About the Role:

Montane is recruiting a Customer Repairs Sewing Machinist to work within our Repairs Team. You will work with our highly experienced in-house repairs expert and will work closely with the rest of the Customer Services Team to make sure that the customer has the best repair experience possible, ensuring timely, accurate, and quality repairs that will extend the lifetime of their much-loved Montane Kit.
As part of The Repairs Team, you will play a key part in helping us to achieve our sustainability goals by extending the lifetime of our products and cutting down on what would potentially go to landfill.
This role is suited to someone who has previous clothing repairs and sewing experience, ideally in a similar industry, however, we will also consider candidates who are highly skilled in at-home sewing.

What will you do?

  • Perform high-quality repairs to any Montane kit that comes into the Repairs Team from both the Montane Repairs Service and any customer returns.
  • Analyse and action customer repairs on time and to the highest standard.
  • Repair and repurpose returned products that can be re-sold in our factory Outlet Shop.
  • Communicate with the Customer Services team to ensure that the customer is kept up to date with relevant information about their repair.
  • Identify and communicate any repair issues with the Customer Services team, providing updated repair needs and timeframes if necessary.
  • Help out in other areas of the customer service team where necessary and depending on business needs and repairs workload.
  • About you

  • Skilled at using a sewing machine, and other clothing repair techniques.
  • Industrial sewing experience would be ideal but not essential as further training can be given.
  • Happy to work with different materials and product types.
  • Experienced in doing different types of clothing repairs, for example, zips, pockets, press-studs, seams, rips, and tears (training can be given if not all of these techniques have been experienced).
  • Excellent ability to understand and follow repair requirements and company methods of work.
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure Montane quality standards are met at all times.
  • Passionate about giving outstanding customer service.
  • Friendly and approachable.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A willingness to learn and use new sewing and repair techniques.
  • Hardworking with the ability to prioritise workload and work at a fast pace to tight deadlines.

    Location: Ashington, Northumberland.
    Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.
    Contract: Part Time, (3 Days, 22.5 hours)
