With a soft peak, pre-elasticated fit and optional chin strap, this cap is fully featured whilst also being light and small enough to stuff into a tiny pack size.

    Montane Insulated Mountain Cap

    The quality of heart is great and does keep you warm. However, the cap is slightly too large so when navigating at night it is very hard to read the map and creates a shadow within your walking line.

    Nice

    I have a size 58 head and often have trouble getting a good fitting hat. With this hat I went for a size XL, which is a bit too big to wear by itself, but I thought it would be best worn over a woolly hat anyway, and for that purpose it is a good enough fit, though perhaps i could have gone down one size. Nice hat, has kept me warm over the recent spell of cold weather.

    Montane Insulated Mountain Cap

    Light, packable, insulating as advertised.

    I like the broad peak protecting glasses from rain and eyes from low sun, and that it flips up to improve upward vision when ascending. The easily adjustable chin strap I think a necessity to use in any kind of wind.

    The lightness of the fabric and smooth lining and gently elasticated fit could result in it being sucked off by a gust. The fit could perhaps be a little more snug, or maybe a size smaller would have been better. Obviously a jacket hood can be worn over it in severe weather. Possibly a microfleece lining would be an improvement with a less slippery feel . Good value.
