Montane Lakeland 100 & 50 2021

2021 marks the 14th edition of the UK’s most prestigious ultra marathons; the Montane Ultra Tour of the Lake District – aka the ‘Montane Lakeland’. Comprising of a 100(ish) mile course of glorious Lakeland terrain, it serves as a love letter to all that is great about ultra endurance racing – the beauty and isolation of the surroundings, the uncompromising toughness required to finish is evident.

Lakeland 100 & 50 2021

The race is split into 2 distances; 50 & 100 miles. Each have their idiosyncrasies, and there is certainly not an ‘easy’ option, especially when it promises to be such a scorcher. This year, montane is fielding athletes across both races, each with a different approach and story that has brought them to this point. Check out the big-hitters here:

Debbie Martin-Consani

A veteran of the highest pedigree when it comes to this race. She set the Women’s 100 record in 2013 and won it outright the year later. She also finished 2nd overall in the 50 in 2015. Since then she has focussed on longer races such as the Montane Spine Race, so the extra miles in the legs will suit this tenacious and tough runner well.

Mark Kerry

The most recent addition to Team Montane, Mark came to our attention when he won our STRAVA competition last year. Since lockdown last year he has chalked up over 40FKT’s. The distance and terrain are right within his skillsets’ sweet spot, so expect big things.

Jamie Miranda

The least experienced athlete in Team Montane, but a tenacious and driven athlete nonetheless. A passionate all-round outdoorsman, he has been training under the tutelage of fellow ambassador Jen Scotney for a while now so should put in a solid performance.
